And I LOVE James Taylor. This CD is probably my least favorite of James Taylor. A few good songs are on it, but it is not one I reach for to listen to over and over again.
While I've never seen him live on stage, I have watched all of his concert videos. If you love JT, you'll be happy with this album.'cuse me, CD. I've been listening to and watching JT since I was an undergrad at NC State in the mid-seventies. Many of these covers are songs he has sung on stage, so they will be familiar to his "true" fans.
Just stick to the basics that made you great JT. Go back to the old folk singer voice JT. He's changed his voice too. He doesn't really need piano, strings, horns, female singers, etc. JT should have stuck with a studio album with all of his good folk songs.
Ditch the band and go solo in concert and record it for the 2009 tour. He now sounds too sweet and soft spoken. That's really what we all want to hear. This album is a bad idea and even worse product. His new songs are boring and predictable.
The band is way too big.
These weren't it. I won't buy the second. there has never been an album put out by this man that I have regretted purchasing. Until this one. I hope he gets this out of his system and goes back to doing his own stuff, or finds songs to cover that suit his style more.
I only received the Carly Simon CD. I did not receive this item in my order. Faith Matthis
